Which Phoenix plumbing is yours to maintain

It helps to know where the city’s pipes end and yours begin, because that decides who fixes what. In general, here’s how it works in the Valley:

  • In Phoenix, the city looks after the water line from the street to the meter, while the line from the meter to your house is yours.
  • Phoenix also requires a pressure regulator on the homeowner’s side of the meter, and keeping it working is the homeowner’s job.
  • Also, the plumbing code caps household water pressure at 80 psi. So when street pressure runs higher, a regulator has to bring it down.
  • Likewise, sewer lines often belong to the owner. In Peoria and Scottsdale, for instance, the owner is responsible for the sewer line from the house to the city main.

If something on your side fails, see plumbing repairs or pipe repair and repiping.

Questions about our plumbing services

Which service should I book if I’m not sure?

Pick the closest match, or simply call and describe what you’re noticing. Geo will find the cause first and then explain your options.

Will I know the price before work starts?

Yes, you’ll get a clear, upfront price first, and no work begins until you approve it.

What should I do in a plumbing emergency?

Before anything else, shut off the water at the fixture valve or your home’s main shut-off to limit damage. Then call us, since our line always answers. If you can’t find the valve, here’s how to shut off your water.

Can Phoenix’s hard water damage my plumbing?

Yes, according to the City of Phoenix 2025 Water Quality Report, hardness can cause scaling in pipes and water heaters and on faucets and showerheads. So if you see crusty buildup, ask about water treatment.
